Balenciaga is the latest luxury fashion brand to adopt the format of a mixed show where both the men’s and womenswear collections are shown together on the same runway. The luxury design house, which is currently headed by Demna Gvasalia, recently announced the decision in a statement.

Gvasalia announced that the brand decided to bring together its men’s and womenswear collections starting with the autumn/winter 2018/2019 season and present them in the same runway show in March during Paris Women’s Fashion Week. The brand will also show a pre-collection of menswear at the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week in Paris in January 2018 instead of their usual full collection.

Balenciaga is the latest in a long line of labels to opt for this kind of mixed runway show. For the last two years, this trend has completely upset the calendars of the major fashion weeks.

The brand is also the latest of those from the luxury Kering Group to adopt this more compact and less expensive format, following Gucci and Bottega Veneta. Yves Saint Laurent has also been showing both its men’s and womenswear collections at Paris Women’s Fashion Week for the last two seasons.
