FRANKFURT, April 9 (Reuters) - Adidas (ADSG.DE) had a "surprisingly good" start this year in its German home market, its chief executive told a weekly magazine.

The sporting goods retail industry saw good revenues in January and February, CEO Herbert Hainer said in a pre-release of WirtschaftsWoche magazine provided to Reuters before publication on Saturday.

Stores had been able to sell off inventories from the winter season such as ski products and now had enough money to purchase goods for the summer months, he said.
